As members are aware meetings with Jazz management and the CAW Bargaining Committee regarding the latest contracting out issue commenced January 15, 2008.
The Union allowed management time to review our concerns and reconvene on January 23, 2008. In summary, Jazz management wants to outsource more heavy maintenance checks. When we reconvened on January 23 the CAW and management were too far apart on the issue and it was put before Chief Arbitrator Teplitsky on January 25th 2008.
As a result of that hearing Mr. Teplitsky issued an order binding on all parties. The Arbitrator’s order was made available February 5 and on February 6 the Bargaining Committee and District Chairpersons held a conference call to discuss its contents.
